About Me

My Name is Adam Rausch and this is my writing portfolio. As a professional writer, I am able to articulate my ideas and thoughts into  written word, as well as contributing to the conversations happening in media, culture, and academics. I have a passion to write creatively. Creative writing is the best friend I've had since childhood, always listening, never judging—an expanse of emotions breathing life into a blank page.

What I Am Looking At:

I am looking forward through the frost, (March)ing toward a sip of spring. New York has toyed with the concept of warmer days—this past Saturday flexed sunny skies and 59 but the rug was yanked when night fell to 15. Weekenders were eager to show some leg, a bit of arm, anything in the wake of winter, but regret was in the spikey wind for those who opted out of a jacket.

I am looking at synthetic wigs at a wig party in FIDI, which is exactly what it sounds like. Red bobs and green inches were whipping back and forth to the tune of Bhad Bhabies new diss track. I was invited by a friend of a friend whom I had never met—

“Who do you know here?”

“Umm, well, what’s your name? I could know you.”

I am looking at a lot of new faces in this new city. So many introductions and please to meet you’s. A concept I would have been previously reluctant towards, as I was living in a town where I had said all the “please to meet you’s” that were worth saying. I was a local, and humbly, I knew all the other locals worth knowing. But moving to the center of the universe I am extraterrestrial eager to study the anthropomorphisms of NYC.

I am looking at new ways to layer: a red t-shirt on top of a powder blue-striped button up, a sticky glance with aloof body-language, a writer by nature with a trade I can still make money in—the city is all about the layers.
